Escape to Agrowisata Tambi

If you dream of visiting a place that offers ecotourism with greenery, freshly breezy air, country side atmosphere, and the feel of mountains, Agrowisata Tambi in Wonosobo, central Java could be a good choice. This place of interest offers varied activities that promote health as well as educational games.

Nestled in the highland of Dieng, the Agrowisata Tambi was initially a tea-farm grown and managed by the Dutch during the colonialism era. The tea was one of the premium Indonesian products exported to European countries. During the Dutch governance, the farmer and workers of the tea-farm were dominated by Indian, which were mostly Tambi ethnic. It is said, this is the reason why people nowadays call it as Tambi.

Today, the Tambi tea-farm which is managed by PT. Tambi, producing not only high quality tea leaves, but also becomes one of the predominant tourist attractions in Wonosobo. The tea cultivation is grown in the 800 hectare is premium black tea.

Tambi is located at Desa Tambi, Kecamatan (sub-district of) Kejajar, Kabupaten (region of) Wonosobo. It is approximately 16 kilometers southern side of Wonosobo city. By car, it takes only 30 minutes to reach the tourist site. Besides using personal or rental car, the agro-tourism site can be access by public bus with the route of Wonosobo-Dieng Batur. You can stop at the intersection of Desa Rejosari, Wonosobo and take ojek ride (motor-bike) to the location.

The entrance ticket is only Rp.20.000,- (approx USD2), and you can freely take walk to enjoy the panoramic view of tea-farm. The tourist site offers three routes of tea-walk to choose; the short route (1 to 2 kilometers), medium route (2 to 3 kilometers) dan long-haul route (3 to 9 kilometers). Beside Tea-Walk, you can also visit tea factory where you can observe directly the process of producing tea leaves.

The Agrowista Tambi is highlands with 1.200 to 2000 above sea level and is located in slopes and hills of the western side of Sindoro Mountain. It has breezy and fresh air ranging from 15 to 24 degree celsius.
