THE LUXURY COLLECTION HOTELS & RESORTS CONTINUES REMARKABLE GLOBAL GROWTH ILLUSTRATIVE OF NEW LUXURY TRAVEL TRENDS

Opening Ten Hotels & Resorts in Asia Pacific within Twelve Months,
The Luxury Collection is On Track to Surpass 90 Hotels by 2016

New York, NY – June 11, 2012 – On the heels of the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Asia, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts announces plans to continue its growth momentum globally with the debut of ten hotels and resorts in vibrant gateway cities and exotic resort destinations including Shanghai and Sanya in China, Jaipur and Chennai in India, the Blue Mountains in Australia as well as Koh Samui, Thailand and Jakarta, Indonesia. With this milestone, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: HOT) continues to stand out as the world’s leader in luxury hospitality, with more hotels in more markets than any competitor in the luxury segment, offering guests exceptional service levels and luxury experiences in a wide range of destinations across the globe.

The Luxury Collection is an ensemble of more than 80 of the world’s finest hotels and resorts in 30 countries around the world with new construction and conversion properties that span China, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia. Offering the brand’s signature Luxury Collection Concierge service, luxury amenities and indigenous cultural experiences, these spectacular new hotels join the brand’s distinguished portfolio as portals for guests to discover each destination.

“This is a milestone for The Luxury Collection as we open ten new hotels and resorts – the most of any year in the brand’s history,” says Paul James, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis and The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts. “As a new generation of global affluent travelers emerge, we are strategically growing our portfolio beyond the traditional luxury grid and in diverse destinations, like China’s Hainan Island and India’s Chennai, that have become important hubs for business and leisure.”

The Luxury Collection Expands its Portfolio in China
The Royal Begonia, a Luxury Collection Resort, Sanya will debut in August 2012 as the brand’s first resort in China, situated on the idyllic and intimate beachfront of Hainan Island. All 142 guest rooms in the seaside retreat blend European elegance with local inspiration and open onto a large balcony, offering unobstructed views of the oceanfront or tropical gardens. Eighteen luxury villas each will feature a private pool, courtyard gardens, sophisticated interiors and high-tech amenities.

In September 2012, Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Shanghai will open in one of the most historic and romantic areas of Shanghai. The 171-room residential-style hotel is situated on the tree-lined Hengshan Road, drawing inspiration from the area’s rich heritage, updated with contemporary designer flourishes. The exquisite interior design was created by renowned-design duo Yabu Pushelberg, offering an ambiance of distinguished opulence. Italy-based Mario Botta, known for the iconic San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Seoul’s Samsung Museum of Art, led the architecture and design of the exteriors.

The Royal Begonia in Sanya and Twelve at Hengshan in Shanghai will join The Hongta Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Shanghai, which became part of the portfolio earlier this year. Sumptuous Mediterranean Delights by Michelin-Starred Chef Lionel Levy

Jakarta, June 11th 2012 – A destination for excellent French cuisine and the ideal place for the arrival of Michelin star chefs in Jakarta, Lyon restaurant is set to serve up distinctive treats for Jakarta’s discerning food enthusiast from one of best and most renowned French chefs in the industry, Chef Lionel Lévy, from 28 to 30 June 2012.

The French are notoriously proud of their cuisine, so it is extra surprising that a new crop of young, ambitious French chefs are beginning to ignore French tradition and look outwards.  Chef Lionel Lévy, whose Restaurant’s Une Table au Sud earned a Michelin star a few years ago, is one such chef.  Making his way from Vieux-Port of Marseille, Chef Lionel Lévy blends in sophistication and edginess in his creations to create an explosion for the senses that surprises both the eye and taste bud.

Chef Lionel Lévy

A man with a lot of curiosity, a taste of risk and an exploratory mind, Chef Lévy spent a lot of his time in his youth at his neighbour’s kitchen, a Moroccan restaurant owner who reminded him of his grandmother.  Later, his childhood experience inspired him to attend hospitality school in Toulouse, but what made him a star chef and where he developed his skills was from his experience of working under great chefs.  From Chef Gérard Garrigues, where he learnt to give the best to everything; Chef Yves Camdeborde where he discovered how to get everything from almost nothing; Chef Eric D’frechon where he learnt to maximize efficiency; to Chef Alain Ducasse where he acquired his sense of perfection, Chef Lévy has never stopped learning.

Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, its colours, spices and products, Chef Lévy mixes soft and crunchy ingredients with fresh and vibrant flavours ensuring each plate is generously filled with ingenious, unexpected and harmonious mixes to arouse the appetite.  Just a few of the dishes that will appear on the menu include: Revisited Classic Anchoïade with vegetable ratatouille, anchovy espuma and fennel chick pea flour shortbread; Lobster with osso bucco, bisque broth and seasonal carrots; and Crème Brûlée pastis with perserved black olives and green anise biscuit.

Carpaccio de Loup by Lionel Levy

Discover the exquisite taste of Chef Lévy’s specialties in a two-course set menu priced at IDR638,000++, three-course set menu at IDR788,000++, or a six-course degustation menu at IDR 1,588,000++.  For a complete experience, join the Chef’s Table priced at IDR2,588,000++ (for a minimum of four people and maximum of six people) or sign up for a cooking demo offering hands on experience in a Michelin Starred kitchen at IDR 988,000++ includes two-course lunch and certificate.

CHINESE MAN
Band Pembuka: Dub Youth

Rolling Stone Indonesia
Sabtu, 16 Juni 2012 – 20.00

Chinese Man, kelompok DJ dari Marseille telah menuai sukses internasional dengan dua album “Groove Session” perdananya. Di Album ketiga “Racing with the sun”, mereka memperlihatkan seluruh bakatnya.

Setelah The Indi Groove EP, Chinese Man merilis CD kompilasi perdana mereka di tahun 2007, The Groove Sessions Vol. 1. Album retrospektif ini menggabungkan 12 lagu dari kisah-kisah perjalanan Chinese Man dan para pendengarnya.

Ciri khas Chinese Man mudah dikenali: mereka mencampurkan musik film, etnik, funk, jazz, reggae dan hip-hop.

Bali’s Subak Becomes World Heritage

Written by Aryani Kristanti of http://www.tempo.co/

The United Nations educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization will recognize Bali’s Subak farms as a World Heritage site in June. This designation comes after 12-year struggle. “The Bali Culture Landscape has been recommended by UNESCO. Its realization is a matter of pounding the hgavel on June 20th,”said Windu Nuryati, the education and culture deputy minister, as quoted from Cabinet Secretariat online statement recently.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in St Petersburg, Russia.

Subak is a traditional farming culture based on Tri Hita Karana, Balinese guidelines that teach people to live in harmony with each other, God and nature.

Subak is used in Balinese irrigation systems. Each member of the village is tasked to regulate water use, keep and repair the irrigation system, control pests and carry out farming innovations and religious ceremonies.
