Two-Star Michelin Chef Olivier Bellin Presents Contemporary French Cuisine


Jakarta, 8 March 2013 - Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta invites guests to embark on a gastronomic journey to indulge in a world-class dining experience with two-star Michelin Chef Olivier Bellin, from 21-23 March 2013 at its French restaurant, Lyon.

Chef Bellin, who is a native of Brittany, is a famous French chef and owner of L’Auberge des Glazicks restaurant in Plomodiern, France. In 2012, Chef Bellin was listed as one of the 158 best chef in the world by Les Grandes Tables du Monde, a prestigious association of great chefs and restaurants covering four continents. At a young age he worked with some of the great French Chefs, including Joël Robuchon and Jacques Thorel, at La Roche-Bernard. In 1998, he took up the challenge of turning his parents’ inn into a top restaurant. Over time, and with the support of Alain Ducasse who invited him to participate in the food France concept, he managed to develop his cuisine and later, in 2005, won his first Michelin Star. In 2010, he received his second Michelin Star and won a Gault et Millau gold medal.

Chef Bellin 

Chef Bellin offers contemporary French cuisine while keeping it sublime, authentic and original - mixing together famous Brittany produces such as lobsters, oysters and buckwheat. One of his outstanding dishes, the "Fried Lobster, chorizo ​​and tomato condiments", was presented at Master Chef France 2011 to be reproduced by Master Chef candidates. During his three day visit to Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta, Chef Bellin will present exceptional cuisine with a special menu at lunch and dinner, a Chef's table and a cooking class.

"This is the second two-star Michelin Chef to visit Lyon and is an example of how we always strive to be the trendsetter of Jakarta’s culinary scene. Last year we brought in one-star Michelin Chefs, but this year we have taken it to a higher level, two stars and above, with Michelin chefs who have greater achievements," said Mark Wouters, Director of Food and Beverage of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta.

Guests may indulge in Chef Bellin's contemporary business lunch with price starting from IDR 298,000++, degustation menu priced at IDR 1,588,000++, or a Chef's Table with a minimum of four people at IDR 2,588,000++. He will also demonstrate his secret cooking recipes during a cooking demo at a price of IDR 788,000++.
